Wa No Wa
A cult work that has been talked about by some music lovers in Japan for many years is now officially available for the first time.
Shocking, ethereal and mysterious sounds
A performance of single-note percussion instruments, “Choir Chime" by twelve users of the Yamato Kogen Taiyo-no-ie, a support facility for the disabled in Yamazoe Village, Nara Prefecture.
The fresh and clear tones played randomly, note by note, eventually transformed into beautiful music as they were strung together.
I wonder if there is any other music that is so pure and innocent.
This work is the ultimate improvised ambient that penetrates deep into the listener's subconscious.

Absolutely love this recording. I listen to it at work. I listen to it in the car on the way home from work. I listen to it while falling asleep. Curtis’ cello is so amazing. Just got the vinyl in the mail from Discogs the other day! Can’t wait to play on my hi-fi system! Dave Sewall
A murderer’s row of producers—Swordman Kitala, Dengue Dengue Dengue, DJ Danifox—put their own spin on Obeka’s original tracks. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 23, 2023
Considering the time of writing this (1982), this is a precursor of many ambient albums which followed. A curiosity, "intended to be listened to in a casual manner, as a musical landscape or a sound object" to quote its author Satoshi Ashikawa. The opening chords are the same as the Terminator theme, which makes me smile but then it's easy to get into this music as it's intended, while doing something else as soothing as this music is.
